What is a Virus ?
A computer virus is a piece of malicious code that attaches to necessary components that enable your computer to function normally.

A virus is created with the intent to do damage or to spread a message.

Once active, a virus can destroy data, cause your computer to re-boot without warning or generally cause you grief when trying to work on your computer.

Follow the steps below to keep Norton's up-to-date. For future reference download these instructions here and print them out.

Step 1

Ensure you have a connection to the internet.

Double click on the Norton Anti-Virus icon from your task bar. This is located on the bottom right-hand of your screen as shown to the right.

Step 2

Norton's will open up a System Status screen.

Click on Live Update on the top left hand of this screen.

On the next screen, click the Next button. Norton's will then check the Symantec products installed on your PC are up-to-date.

Step 3

If there are no new updates available, you will be presented with a Thank you screen, click on Finish.

If there are updates available, click on Next . LiveUpdate will then proceed to download and install the updates.

Step 4

When LiveUpdate has completed, click on the Finish button.

While not all updates require you to re-start your computer, it is beneficial to re-start after running the LiveUpdate.

Ensure you have saved any of your work and re-start your computer.
